Maryland Dry Cleaner Leads Effort to Provide Warmth for Families in Need

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 18, 2024) – Admiral Cleaners, a leading dry cleaning business serving Southern Maryland for over 50 years, distributed nearly 3,000 warm winter coats to families in need across St. Mary’s County this winter season. The donated coats were collected through the company’s annual “Call for Coats” campaign, which has provided over 100,000 coats to locals facing hardship over the past three decades.
This year’s effort was made possible by the support and partnerships of Admiral Cleaners’ loyal clients, 20 local schools, businesses and nonprofits, including the Hope for All food bank and Neighborhood Service Center. Employees volunteered their time to dry clean all donated coats free of charge before distribution.
“We’re proud to continue this tradition of caring for our community by providing a basic necessity to our less fortunate neighbors," said Michelle Thompson, owner of Admiral Cleaners. “Seeing the smiling faces of children and parents as they pick out the perfect coat makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
